Crest Vs650 amp

Does anyone have experience of mending Crest Vs-series amps? I've just dragged a Vs650 out of a rack. No output, Protect LED stays on, but nothing obviously dead inside. Last time it died a PSU capacitor fixing screw had worked loose, burning a hole in the PCB & destroying the cap + a few other PSU components, but that was 10 years ago & it had been running happily ever since.

The general consensus is that it's not really economic to get it repaired, so if anyone wants a doorstop for a very large door, please let me know.

This has now thrown up another problem. The amp is (was) fed from a Martin EMX1 system controller & feeds 2 or 4 Martin EM25 speakers, but I can't find any info on the EMX1. Martin have the Owner's Manual for the EXM1A in their archive, but this is a different, much later beast, designed to work with a variety of speakers, with lots of jumpers inside - there are none in the EMX1. Does anyone have any info on the EMX1, especially on the Eq curves?

I haven't tried Martin yet, but when I had a similar problem about 10 years ago in a different venue (among many other stupidities, a total rip-off "installer" had junked the controller for the Martin FoH speakers, leaving them sounding like s...t) they weren't able to offer much help. Their then-current controller would have cost a small fortune, so we put in a DBX Driverack instead.

If you have Smaart, or a similar analyser, you could use a transfer function to see what the unit is doing. Not ideal, but might be useful if you're stuck.

Yes, now it's out of the rack I was going to use Audiotool, or even just a frequency sweep, to get an idea of what it actually does. The potential problem is that because the amp dying seems to be related to a lot of HF coming out of the AudioFire sound-card there is a possibility that this HF damaged the EMX1 first, which then killed the amp. Hence it would be nice to be able to compare what it actually does to what it is meant to do (if that makes sense - it's been a long day).
