Role Title: Stage Technicaian

 

 

Hours: 39 hours week (averaged over 17 week periods)

 

 

Salary: £20456.79 + £2000 on completion of in housetraining + Get Out and infringement payments (c £6000) per annum

 

Primary purpose:

 

As one of the 4 technicians your main role will be servicing the productions in all of the performance spaces within the Centre and taking part in occasional toursand other events outside the Centre. Wales Millennium Centre plays host to a wide variety of number one touring productions, from musicals, dance and opera to comedy, as well as international productions, events and conferences. You will be an integral part of the team that getsthese productions up and running.

 

The department is multi-skilled and not departmentalised, as such we expect you towork in all technical areas within the Centre. However we are looking specifically for a technician with an electrical (AV, Light and Sound) bias to balance the current key skills base within the department.

 

Specialist Accountabilities:

 

1. To provide technical support to any production or event. Common duties will include but are not limited to: working on get-ins and get-outs; fitting up lighting, sound or staging equipment for productions; operating sound, flies or lighting during performances; performing cues onstage as part of a production, as required by the Chief Electrician andTechnical Stage Manager.

 

 

2. To supervise casual staff, especially in the areas of safe working practices and the running of shows.

 

 

3. To be able to trouble-shoot alltechnical systems at the Centre – staging, lighting, sound and AV.

 

 

4. To carry out any other duties inall areas of the building as may be required by the WMC technical management.This may include occasional work off site as WMC produces events not held at the Centre itself.

 

 

5. To carry out regular maintenanceactivities of WMC equipment and systems.

 

 

 

Generic Accountabilities:

 

 

 

 

1. Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

 

 

2. To act as Weston Studio Manager in emergencies.

 

 

3. To undertake portable appliance testing, servicing andmaintenance of all in-house technical equipment as part of a rolling programme within the department.

 

 

4. It is expected that staff may deputise for theirmanagers occasionally – this should be seen as good experience and anopportunity to learn.

 

 

5. To attend occasional staff meetings and training sessions.

 

 

6. To carry out duties at all times, with regard to theCentre's Equal Opportunities and H&S policies. This may include providing assistance with evacuation procedures or building searches in the event of anemergency at any of the Centre's premises.
