Good homes for unwanted bits?

Thee are charities that take old woodworking & metalworking tools for reuse in 3rd-world countries, but does anyone know of one that take electronic bits (Rs, Cs, connectors, project-boxes, nuts & bolts, etc, etc.)?

I take all this sort of stuff to the local recycling centre where they separate the electronics stuff which goes to Africa by the container load, I think for disassembly.

Not aware of any that do similar to the couple of charities that deal with tools.

If you have a Maker Space/ Hackspace locally they may well take on such items. There are also some clubs or groups for kids for getting them interested in STEM activities that might have an interest. Finally some of the scrapstores might take it.

Not sure I trust our local council to send stuff for reuse rather than just chopping it up, but there is a local-ish Hackspace which could be the answer; thanks for suggestion. Next problem; what to do with a rack of CD & MD decks & a load of old outboard stuff?

Find out if they run them themselves or use a contractor and what their waste policy is. Veolia have set up the one I use so that only about 10% goes unsorted as domestic waste the rest is sorted at the site by bin or container. I was told that they often send five or six containers a week of electricals for re-cycling. Hampshire have good info on all their sites online which make clear what they will take and what they do with it.

Was Amey, & their electronic waste area was just a table. It's now been taken in-house, but it's book & queue, so not a good time for a recce. I've been asked to do a triage on decades of accumulated junk, half-built projects, good-but-no-longer-needed & stuff that's worth keeping, but covid rules make it difficult to do anything at the moment, so I'm mostly gathering ideas
