Cleaning stage curtains

Recommended Posts

The last time I had quotes done for cleaning, repairing and then reproofing it was cheaper to get new ones made.

Same here.

We've replaced our main house blacks every 3 to 4 years for various reasons - not least when over-enthusiastic am-dram companies manage to get paint on the current set...

Following with interest for two reasons.

In my full-time job we have black tabs that are getting a tad mucky, plus I was given some that were dirty. The bad ones I was going to cut in to smaller pieces that could be washed and repurposed....

The decent tabs I was wondering about how they could be cleaned. I guess patches and stains can be sponged off in-situ.

I also volunteer at a community centre where we have a stage with colour FOH curtains. They are 'OK' at the moment but again I wondered how they could be cleaned - if at all.

I guess sponging marks could leave a clean spot on coloured tabs so probably best not bother!

Oh yes... I have some photos somewhere of royal blue velour/velvet...

They started 'spotting' near the leading edge and quickly realised the mistake, unfortunately the spot is in the dirty bit where the handling takes place. So a perfectly clean spot about a foot across in the black but beside the generally grubby. trying to dirty it up again made the matters worse.
