This is just from my personal experience Plus that of several dear colleagues. Leaving the entertainment industry is hard, really hard. We develop a huge amount of very specific skills over the course of your career. These skills are infinitely transferable to all manner of other industries with “normal 9-5 hrs”. What I found, and many people I have spoken to over the years is once the entertainment industry gets in your blood precious little else really compares, it always draws you back for many different reasons, the odd gig to help out an old colleague, becomes a festival, becomes 2 festivals Nd that’s the point you realise you put all of your blood sweat and tears into learning your craft and when you try to leave the industry you find that these skills that mean so much to other technicians and engineers is somewhat rather lost on your next employer which can often times make employment quite difficult to come by especially at a wage you would hope for. I hope that makes even a little sense I fear it may mostly be rambling with not definitive point?
