Chamsys QuickQ

Just go a QuickQ 20 for our bijou theater and think its a great bang for the buck. The Chauvet, ChamSys and Luna guys here in the US have been helpful but I would like to be able to converse with some regular users to swap experiences. Unfortunately ChamSys have closed down their user forum and moved all traffic to Facebook. I do not use (or ever will use) Facebook so feeling kind of left out. Any QuickQ users out there I would be glad to hear from.

But it isn't allowing new members. Try it.

The message in red at the top of the page gives a little clue as to the reason why not

New registrations are temporarily disabled due to a fault with our email system. We are working to resolve this.

Yeah, I saw that (bit hard to miss it!). But the forum definitely isn't "closed down", it's still very much active - and I'm sure new registrations will be opened up again soon enough once the issues they're having are resolved.

The Forum registrations will be coming back again - we're working on a few system updates, which unfortunately due to the current climate is taking us a little longer than planned!

  • 3 years later...

Well, 3 years later and I'd like to discuss installing Magicq under Linux but the forum is gone.

Is it really gone and, if so, can anyone walk me through a problem with a brand new install of Magicq on a brand new Debian/Ubuntu system?

Thanks, Dave

wots the problem?

Magicq won't run from the icon. If I run it from a terminal window it says /opt/Magicq/lib/libstdc++.so.6: 'GLIBCXX_3.4.30' not found (required by/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libicuuc.so.72)

I've found some stuff on the web about making sure there's a symbolic link to it and that appears to be correct. This was a full, clean install of the latest version of Debian followed by installing the latest stable release of Magicq.

I'm kind of renewing an interest in Linux after a gap of about 20 years so am a bit rusty!

Thanks

Dave

pressume youve tried

If MagicQ is failing to start on Linux, try running it from the command line (with /opt/magicq/runmagicq.sh). If errors appear similar to the following:

libGL error: MESA-LOADER: failed to open swrast (search paths /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri:\$${ORIGIN}/dri:/usr/lib/dri)
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast

Then this is likely caused by your graphics drivers being built for a newer version of libc than MagicQ is distributed with. Try renaming /opt/magicq/lib/libstdc.so.6 to libstdc.so.6~ (this may require root) and running again; this will allow MagicQ to use the system version of libstdc.so.6. If this fails, rename the file back again and contact support.

You're a star! Thank you so much. That's a very large beer I owe you. I hadn't thought to look in that document. Just assumed I was doing something wrong!

Now to get the aging Microtouch touch screen working... but that's for another day!

Thanks again, very much
