These courses have been developed after consultation with the
industry, and practitioners.
BSc (Hons) Lighting Design and Technology
This course provides students with a high level of technical skills
and knowledge of lighting design. Graduates may also be qualified to the IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
In the first two years you will be undertaking modules covering the following subjects:
Lighting Design for concerts, TV, theatre and corporate events alongside architectural/environmental lighting design.
Lighting Control and Special Effects
Electrical Principles and IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulation
Lighting Principles
Business and Health & Safety
Flying and Rigging
WYSIWYG and AutoCAD
In the final year you will be undertaking specialised modules in lighting for Film and TV, Theatre, Live Music and studies into automated lighting and applications. The final year provides you with the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team working together in a simulated industry environment.
BSc (Hons) Live Event Technology
Provides students with a high level
of technical skills and knowledge combined with creative abilities
in live event technology (including sound, lighting design and
rigging), as well as event production (including theatre,
conferences, performances and festivals). Graduates may also be
qualified to the IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
In the first two years you will be undertaking modules covering the following subjects:
Lighting Design,
IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulations,
Live Sound Engineering,
Video and Image Technology,
Event and Production Management,
Business and Health and Safety Issues,
Flying and Rigging for Live Events,
Computer Aided Design
In the final year you will have the opportunity to work on a major group project, as well as further a interest of your choice though the Independent Study module.
