The baby brother to the popular Strand 500-series consoles, the 300 series features a laptop-like appearance, with versions having a built in LCD screen forming a fold up lid. The system is modular, so users can have a control section and one or more sub-master banks arranged in whatever order is convenient. The control section links to the processor via Cat 5 cabling. It runs the same software as the 500 series, although the layout of the keys is different. Some people find the rubberised keys awkward and slightly clumsy to operate, lacking much tactile feedback.
The 300 and 500 series is due to be replaced with the new Strand Palette range soon.
