> Starcloth

A Starcloth is a black cloth, usually wool serge, with multiple point sources of light in a random pattern across the cloth. These light sources could be discreet lights, such as Pealights, LEDs, etc; or could be produced from a light box through a set of fibre optic strands. A starcloth is usually hung at the back of a stage, often from a flybar, to form the backdrop to the action taking place on stage. Where discrete lights have been used, these are often divided into several circuits in order to be programmed as a 'twinkle'. If a light source is used, it often has a motor which turns a segmented wheel to produce the same effect. While many starcloths produce white light, some are designed to provide multi coloured light. Also some starcloths may have control built in to act as a DMX operated fixture.
