Socapex

There are a range of Socapex connectors, the most frequently used in theatre is the size 4, 19 pin multicore connector, used for carrying six circuits of Dimmed Power or Hard Power from the dimmers or socket outlets to the desired location, often to a Six Lamp Bar. Socapex is in fact a trade name, in the same way that Hoover is.

Sometimes (far less frequently):-

Used as a multicore for large PA systems, running between the amplifiers and a speaker stack. A 37 pin variant is used for analogue lighting control.

Note: It is important for lighting applications that the metal shell of these connectors is equipotentialy bonded with at least one CPC of the Cable

Note: Pin 19 is sometimes used for bonding extraneous metalwork.
