Show control covers a wide variety of solutions, generally aimed at automating the show process, to ensure that it looks and sounds similar show to show.

Show control systems will often use a time coding system like LTC (SMPTE Time Code) or MTC - Midi Time Code for connection to timecodable systems, and will also have the ability to output other protocols like MIDI and RS-232 and 422 for control of other devices.

Show Control can be as simple as a single program which can playback audio and lighting to highly complex systems which will run an entire show with minimal human intervention.
