A demux is a device which takes a digital signal and converts it to an analogue voltage. Commonly used in the entertainments industry to convert DMX to analogue control for interfacing newer lighting desks with older dimmers. The Zero88 model shown (top picture) has DMX in and through connectors to the left, and 48 way outputs to the right on Preh 8 pole DIN Connectors. Controls and display in the centre for setting start address, dimmer curve and DMX loss behaviour. There are/were -ve voltage conversions available for this unit as an after-market add-on. These are for compatibility with Strand dimmers. The newer Demux24 unit (middle picture) has +ve or -ve output voltage selectable per socket from the menus. Other models include the Strand S72 (bottom picture), which is commonly accepted to be a rebadged version of the Botex 72 way demux.
