One of the most established lighting manufacturers in the UK, used to make the Pattern 23 profile and the Pattern 743 fresnel amongst other lanterns, now produces the Strand SL range of lanterns along with the 500 series lighting desks.

Strand have recently announced the Palette range, to replace the popular 300 series.

On 11th July 2006 it was announced that Genlyte - the American corporation that also owns the manufacturing side of Vari*Lite - has bought the US and Asian parts of Strand Lighting, and UK operations returned on 31st May 2007 after some uncertainty over the future of the Strand Lighting brand in Europe. - See this topic for discussion on the matter

More recently, on 26th December 2007 Royal Philips Electronics accquired Genlyte, securing strong financial backing and what appears to be continued commitment to developing the new range of Strand Lighting products.
