First generation of the Betapack. Not originally called the Betapack 1 as future generations had not been envisioned. All Betapack 1s have 6 channels of 10A dimming and can be fed from single or three phase mains supplies. In addition to the illustrated models a hardwired version was available and a Betapack Plus, which had local control faders, but only one output socket per channel. The Betapack 1 can be mounted in a 19" rack (the rear left model in the photo shows the removable rackmount brackets which were supplied as standard), used freestanding, or alternatively a pair of wall-mount brackets were available separately. If you look at the foremost pack, the two round (blanked) holes in the lower right-hand corner are for an optional DMX interface. In and out connectors here, and rotary address switches on the back panel. This is merged on a highest-takes-precedence basis with the 10V (+ or - ) analogue connection on an 8 pole DIN Plug. The 6 neon indicators are for showing dead fuses. The DMX input on the Betapack 1 was always an optional extra. Note that it is no longer available as a key component is obsolete. Betapack 1s have two known issues: melted fuse holders, and failed large resistors. Neither of these problems is difficult for a competent technician to repair.
