> BNC Removal Tool
(Redirected from BNC Extraction Tool)

A BNC removal tool is a device for removing BNC connectors from densley populated patch bays and other areas where it is not easily possible to get your hand in to turn the locking ring and release the BNC connector. They are similar in design to a screwdriver, however instead of a standard screwdriver head they have a tube with a slot cut in it along its length. In use the slot is used to allow the cable to get into the tube, the end of the tube is then pushed onto the connector and turning the handle rotates the bayonet section of the BNC, allowing it to be removed. The procedure is reversed to attatch a BNC. The tools are often known as apple corers due to their similarities to the other device.
