The unit of measurement for electrical current (abbreviated to Amps or simply A (please note this is a capital A), named after André-Marie Ampère. In lighting terms, each lantern requires a certain number of Amps which must not exceed the total Amps available.

Lamp (wattage) divided by supply voltage (c.230V UK) = Amps required.

e.g. 1000W lamp / 230V = 4.3A
