5A Plug

The 5A connector is essentially a smaller version of the 15A Connector.

Usage

The 5A connector has now been officially replaced by the 15A Connector, but is still found in many venues, particularly schools.

It was thought to be a better alternative to the larger 15A plugs due to the fact that when used in a certain way a person can electrocute themself on a 15A size plug, but not on these smaller models. The invention of the small protective layer around newer 15A plugs means that this is no longer (but it is still wise not to use them in this certain way!) a risk to the user.

Wiring

The wiring of a 5A plug is identical to the 15A Connector.
