Hi Guys

A second hobby of mine I also dj'ing and mobile discos. I am looking for some sort of media player, with the same amout of adjustability of somthing like winamp. However , I am probably going have around 80gb of music on this laptop, so I need a search bar to e able to find a requsted song. Ideally it will e a free dowload program , again like winamp.

Any ideas will be apriciated

iTunes any good to you? Search facility is great. Not sure if you need crossfaded playaback or something, though?

My mate DJ's on a laptop and he uses a program called otsi. There's also BPM studio and PC DJ available. They give you a twin CD player arrangenment and otsi will also mix a set list for you.

Yep, there is lots of software for DJs using a PC. You can also get things that plug in that give you hands on control.

For example look at Virtual DJ and its compatible hardware list.

Back on topic, the OP says that they're looking for the features and adjustability of winamp, the licensing (free-ness!) of winamp, and searching capability. It sounds to me that what you really need is winamp....with one of the advanced search plugins like "QuickSearch". That basically lets you fire up winamp with a very large playlist (eg "all files in all these directories", and then launch a small search window....
You'll find it on www.winamp.com/plugins

Well, I now use Billy.

But I used to use Music Match Jukebox

But the latter is much more system resource hungry

Might want to take a look at wxMusik @ www.musik.berlios.de/

That plug in for winamp is exactly perfect, infact I could not have made a more ideal one if I made it myself. For everyone else I am (was) looking for a media player, not a dj program, but thanks anyway I have downloaded one, it might me handy

Cheers
