Hi there,

I have a show coming up where I am going to be using a theatre stack.

I currently own an IMG DMX120 box, I wondered is there any software where I can build up a stack and control each cue on the press of a space bar or enter.

I have looked at and asked Freestyler, and it cannot do it....

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Oh, and preferably free software smile.gif

HI I think Innovate show controls do one, which I think you can download the software for free.

The Bluelite needs to talk to their dedicated hardware DMX unit - The IMG isn't suitable.

As someone who had a demo unit from Innovate (not just the software, the whole thing). It is called Bluelite X1.

There was quite a bit about it see here and here and here

It is a great product, but does NOT work like a GO button. You have to set up a play list of each scene, then you can jump from one to the other. Innovate may at some stage update their way of working, but are very happy with the way it currently works. The software may be free, but the hardware certainly isn't - four figures for the 1U rack unit.

Seems this interface isnt well supported, but you could have a look at DMX Control which looks like it does support your interface, and does claim to be theatre usable.

Or you could flog your interface on eBay and splash out on PCStage which does do cue stacks to perfection, several times over :-) Or Horizon or something, a tool with theatre attitude.

Most of the cheap / free tools are aimed at dance parties, and those that aren't seem to be tools of limited ambition, as in experimental visual basic two preset desks with dippy crossfades.

For the market it addresses, Freestyler seems flipping good.

busted_cop.gif See this thread for some more info on Freestyler.

Update: Another thing you could do is that if you can find some lighting software that supports MIDI control you could use that software with any MIDI show controller package, and even run them both on the same PC by using a MIDI loopback device such as the MIDI OX thing. Probably the cheapest show controller is again PCStage, unless there is one out there that pays you to have it, in which case where do I sign up smile.gif Or you could download an eval/demo of Showman, SFX, SCS etc.

We don't have a dedicated 'Go' button. I wrote some information on how to achive a similar result with the BlueLite X1 here

We are currently working on an add-on application which will have 48*24 sequences which can be recalled into 4 independent chasers. We will introduce it at the LDI in 4 weeks in Orlando. We will also introduce a low cost 1 universe box and a stand alone version at the LDI.

Excellent news - really nice when the people who know come up and fill in the blanks. I'd have no problems describing the Innovate product as rather neat and very good value for a pro product. If they have a slightly lower spec hardware unit about to be released this will be a very useful product.
