Evening Guys & Girls,
I've got an Avolites Azure Shadow, and I have some 'Star' 250w Discharge Moving Heads. I can't find a fixture file for it on the Avo Personality site and I have requested one but I need this file within the next week or so and they say it can take up to a month to make them..
Now, the channels for the moving head is as follows:
1: Shutter
2: Dimmer
3: Lamp
4: Colour
5: Empty
6: Gobo
7: Gobo Rotation
8: Empty
9: Focus
10: Prism
11: Prism Rotation
12: Pan
13: Tilt
14: Pan Fine
15: Tilt Fine
Can anybody think of another fixture that follows the same channel pattern? Or can anyone edit .R20 files from Avo to create a fixture file for these?
Thanks a lot,
Aaron
As far as I remember, R20 files are text based, so you should be able to make one yourself in notepad.
Any normal moving head will have those control channels really, so I don't think it would be too hard to take the R20 for a mac250 or similar (that has prism and focus as far as I remember), and modify that to what you need. Renumbering channels shouldn't be hard, so try giving it a go yourself.
Quite why it would take them a month to generate one for you though.... :-S Seems a strangely long amount of time for one file!

Wol,
Thanks a lot for the fast reply, I'll download one and try editing it!
I shall update this topic if it works!
Cheers,
Aaron
I just downloaded a R20 file and it seems simple enough. Took me a while to actually find out how to download one though as it seems you cant directly get an individual file off their site, but if you extract one of the personality disk downloads, it should have some similar R20 in (Would try Martin or Robe to start with).
But hey, I'm just used to MagicQ being able to generate and tweak personality files directly from the software so don't have this sort of hassle ;-)

Yep, I've just downloaded one for the Mac250 and having a play around with it now, I'm not too worried about channel values etc, more just the channels doing as they're told when I'm programming!
Thanks for the help

I know there is a full section in the manual for the perl on how to edit theses files, may be worth a look , if you download the cash builder it has all the fixture files in there somewhere

You may find this thread from the Avo Forum useful as well.

That's mainly due to the volume of requests for fixture personality files received. We aim to get to requests in under that time and for the most part that is the case. Indeed it would be strange if it took me one month to generate one .R20 file (and I don't imagine remaining employed if my work rate was that low)!

Would anyone here be able to help me out and make up an r20. file for the moving head I began the topic about?
I can't get my head around it, so if anyones any good with it would they mind doing one for me and emailing it?
Thanks in advance,
Aaron

Have you tried using the third-party software John from the thread Mr. Huson linked to above? That should make it extra easy. Although the .r20 files really aren't that difficult & they are explained in the manual. If you are still stuck then I can write one but, like Mr. Rogers I'm quite busy and there's always the chance that it doesn't work leaving me responsible.
Persevere. It's useful to learn.

Nic,
Sorry I completely missed that link!
Just downloaded it and got it working, so thanks a lot for that! I'll keep a copy of that for any new fixtures I need creating too,
Thanks again!
