Full Version: Low(ish) cost dimming

I'm looking at a project that would require equipping ourselves with about 48 channels of portable dimming, obviously with tight budget constraints. I've looked at various second hand options, which may be a possibility. Does anyone have any recommendations for off the shelf options?

We would need 48 (10A probably but not likely to need more than 1K per channel), just DMX control, power input to the rack should be via 63A 3phase ideally. Output only needs to be one soca per 6 channels, no patching or splits required, but may be nice for future uses.

I'm also looking at putting together a rack with various obvious options to fit the above spec at the lowest cost, such as 8x Zero88 Rack 6s with Soca out, Beta packs etc. On top of these I came across the Strand Propack, which I'd never seen before. These look quite interesting for my use, at a probably too good to be true price...... Does anybody know anything about these?

After some of my more recent Strand experiences (notably having a largish stock of SLs), I'd be apprehensive! Does anyone have any feedback on issues such as customer support with the new Strand as part of Philips?

Thanks

Richard

Joe, shouldn't that sort of activity be conducted via PM to avoid breaking forum advertising rules?

Apart from the guys at strand support now being all in america or overseas in general, the support is very good. Bill Richards who is the main uk contact I believe is particulary helpful. very supportive too.
