Hello All,
Has anybody used and repaired a unique 2.1 hazer, I've got a few and there dieing slowly, I know your gonna say that we need to turn them off properly and leave them to self clean but its to late know.

I'm getting an er8 which means the vapouriser is clooged, I cleaned out all that I can, anybody got any helpful tips or words of advice (advice thats not bin them and get a DF50).

Cheers

I found that gently squeezing the tube running up the left hand side of the machine with it running, would eventually clear the fault.

Martin always recomend white vineger, but do it outside as it has quite an odour. Is it possible to strip the heating block?

Yup. Try putting the question into the "Effects and pyro" section, not the "Lighting" section? ;-) You might get some more helpful replies!

I think if your hazer has turned into a light then it's well past being fixable! :-p

Don’t bin them... Or if you do let me know what bin you put them in.

The service manual says that er8 means that either the HEM (heat Exchange Module) or the air pump are broken / need replacing. The HEM is pretty expensive at about £120+vat for the part alone. The air pump I’m guessing to be a lot less.

Do you have several units not working? All with the same fault? The pump is a pretty easy item to swap between units to see if that solves a problem.

*** Usual warning, only attempt repairs if you are competent, capable and safe***

If you need a quote to repair them, Whitelight (UK Distributors) have a service department, or we can also give you a quote to fix them too.

We have many Unique 1 & 2 units in hire and have found them very reliable. Ive no experience of DF50's, but they win hands down over a Neutron Star. In the many years we have been running them we have only had to replace a few HEM's. If anyone has a Unique 1 though, look after it - they are better than the 2's.

Good luck.
