I currently have a Sherman 4K system with is fine for most venues but I am looking to get a lightweight system for small gigs or events where access is not so good. I was thinking of a pair of Mackie 450V2 but have not heard good reports about them.
Looking to spend about £750 on the speakers as I can used my existing Crown XTi1000 amp and they will be mainly used for recorded music for 100 people.
So looking for something like the Mackie’s for weight etc but passive and sound better,

The mackies are active.....he is looking for a passive box so he should in theory be able to get more bang for buck.

I was going for the Mackies but hear poor reviews of them from reliabilty (I think this was mainly MK1) to lack of base, I am interested in a similar light weight speaker, The butget is a bit less as it is passive.

You'll be under driving most boxes on the market with an XTI1000. They're only really useful for small background material or HF components in smaller systems.
Before we go into lots of manufacturers and all their range of boxes. Let's look at what you have already. Why not give Ken a call or a PM on here and see what he would suggest. There's a 12 5 and 1 box on the market that's lightweight and compact. You could use it for out/infill / monitors in your larger setup too without it looking out of place. There's a version with the 15 inch driver too but it's a little heavier.

Ive got 4 Mackie SRM450 V1's and 2 SRM450V2's and Ive had no problems with any of them.
Theres quite a bit of difference weight wise, I normally only carry one V1 at a time but I carry 2 V2's.
Come on then guys, slag me for having mackies .

Thanks for the plug Rob.
OK Addoaddo, with £750.00 for a pair you're leaving yourself a bit thin so s/h may be the answer.
Give me a call.
