Full Version: drivers for HK Actor seris (early)

Just acquired an original version of the HK Actor series rig and discovered one blown mid-range driver. This is labelled B & C which I think is what was originally fitted. Other top cabs driver works fine but is a 'generic' unmarked speaker. Anyone know what I should replace these with and would I be better off replacing both drivers with, say, Eminence Kappa's or finding a B & C replacement for one side?

Cheers

Why not speak to JHS over in Leeds (UK Disty for HK Audio) Tel: 01132 865 381. They should be able to advise on the B&C model number (or source a replacement for you)

Alot of the original HK drivers are unmarked from new. With something as nice as these cabs, why spoil them by trying to fit a possibly non-original part? HK spares are reasonably priced.

With their older kit HK tended to use a whole mish mash of drivers . Having repaired two Actor tops that were both loaded with B&C my money would be on the B&C being the original driver .

Original part in a non-DX Actor is indeed a B&C driver. IIRC, the last one I bought from JHS was around £140 (couple of years ago). Don't put a cheaper driver in as it's the B&C unit that gives the Actor top its edge.
