Hi All,
Im based on the Hants / Surrey border, and I'm looking to hire some backline for a gig coming up.
Before I start Googleing to find somewhere, does anyone have any recommendations they could give.
I'm after a 5 peice kit with cymbals, bass stack and gtr cabs.
Cheers
Ben

a second for John Henrys. We've used them for the Mini Chill/ Festinho events.

A second recommendation for fx rentals, as it's a kit you are after it's worth noting they have bought drumhire, who would always have been my first port of call.

I don't know anywhere on the Hants Surrey Borders, but as everyone else seems to be suggesting London firms, I'll add Terminal Studios in Bermondsey, and Studiohire, both of whom have done very good service for me for instruments (guitars, drumkits, keys, percussion etc) and backline kit.

A closer place to try would be Nevada in Portsmouth. I've hired stuff like that from them in the distant past when I was based in your area. I would also talk to local music shops and youth groups.
Cheers
James.

Speak to Terminal Studio's - If I remember rightly, Charlie is the guy to speak to.
Failing that, Matt Snowball music.

Try
Wayne at Big Fish. He's got great kit, and they are now running kit out of Cheltenham, with competitive rates on delivery. They've serviced some of the best people out there, and are great to work with. I can't comment on prices, as I've only ever worked along side them, not hired directly, but I'd imagine they'd be competitive.

Pete, I cant see any mention of Cheltenham on their website, seems to be only Manchester mentioned? Is this a new thing?

See
here. Wayne is lovely, but I don't think they update the site too much, and this was only finalised early this week.....
