Hi all,

I have had some help from tutors, re-thought my project and re-written my questions. These are just a few questions so I can gather some general information for my topic.

Brief: I am currently looking to gather some information with regard to Moving Lights within medium-scale, Drama Productions within Scotland (such as those produced by NTS, the Citizen's, Tag, etc.). I have not had much experience with moving lights and am interested in what influences lighting designers to use them.

My Question: 'Are moving lights a useful tool for Lighting Designers working in medium-scale, Drama Productions within Scotland and what factors influence designers.'

My Email is: lwiseman@rsamd.ac.uk to post it back to when you have completed it.

Thank you

The Citz used movers in "Desire Under The Elms" in late 2007/early 2008 to create a sunrise/sunset transition effect that - though I only saw it during the fit-up week - looked pretty good and worked reasonably well (I presume it was honed for the performance)

It was particularly interesting (to someone who doesn't have much to do with Lighting) because it made use of tabtrack running parallel to the flyfloors. One mover on either side, one upstage and one down, and as they physically swapped ends they swivelled. Like I said, it was a nice effect. Could it have been achieved by other means? Well, it's not my research project..... wink.gif

The Citz and NTS are both run by and frequently employ alumni of the RSAMD or QMU, so you shouldn't have any difficulty getting in touch with them.

May I ask why you're being sp specific about moving light useage only in Scotland?

I was told by my tutor to pick a definitive topic and not make it too vague - I suppose the equivalent anywhere else in the world would be good too - Medium scale drama production.

Moderation: Topic now closed at the OP's request as the time is up and he has collated results from questionnaires received to date.
