Anyone do repairs to Coomber tape recorders? A teacher tripped over the wire and yanked one onto the floor while she was trying to stop a boy forcing the door closed. Sigh.

It looks to me as though the plastic moulding that forms one of the spool spindles has sheared. I'll bet it's not repairable. It's nearly new too. Sigh.

contact coomber, most of the stuff inside them is on its own little board, so easy to repair, designed for school abuse use.
Ive lost cound of those we have had wrecked.

Send it back to Coomber! The entire point of schools and colleges buying this brand is nothing to do with quality of sound, or technical innovation - it's about buying a product that doesn't break, but when it does, it can be fixed. Give them a ring.

It's also about how many badminton courts a device will cover. It's a recognised unit.

To clarify, these are almost bomb proof bits of kit, but from experience, they'll repair them for you if they DO go wrong.

theyre also as ugly as sin to deter theft!!

coombers website

a basic site, but has the contact info there as well. Im always confused as to why a badminton court, the school I work at has no badminton court, neither did my high school.

ARGH do not talk to me about them. I repaired quite a few over the summer in the MFL area of the school, only to find them in the skip at the start of the term! sad.gif

My father used to work at coombers up until recently and all he did all day was repair them.
As many people have said, send it back as they are built to last and be repaired (hence the price)

Hope all goes well!
