Hello again

I keep posting questions, seem to be comparing the TT's all the time to other speakers, but its getting close to crunch time now!

Due to lack of funds I have narrowed down my choices.

2 x RCF Art 525a (New around £1450 pair)
or
2 x RCF TT 22a (New around £2900 pair)
or
2 x KV2 Ex12 (New around £2820 pair)

I mentioned before that I was forming a duo or band, due to me getting a new job (Dream job!!!!) im sticking to solo work for the moment.

I know the TT range and the KV2 speakers are in a different league to the art speakers, but does the price warrant it?

Speakers going to be used for solo singer with backing tracks, now I like plenty of thump without the lump! I want to keep my carry down to a minimum. But over the years I have up graded from peavey hysis4's to Mackie 1521's to SRM450's to Logic System (Powered XP range) now im selling my nexo ps10 system (amp to heavy and tops dont really have the bottom I want in smaller venues so having to take the sub every night is waring thin!)

Please help! SPL wise they look the same, Arts are very light, but will I get the same clairty as the logic, nexo stuff?

Hi Smoggy.
Whilst the ART range are a good bang per buck, they are the entry level RCF cab, and cannot be compared to the TT+ range.
I have not heard the KV2 so cannot comment on those.

Clarity wise I prefer the 12" full range TT's to the xp15's, even though the logics are 15".

The TT+22a's are very light for a powered cab, as a club act myself, id certainly go for them if I had the budget.

thanks for the reply. If I had the budget I would too. I have enough for the TT's, but I have a few other things I need to get (mainly for the house) so saving 1400 or so would be a huge benefit.

if money wasnt in the question I would go with the TT range. but it is so I need to be sensible.

I have heard the RCF 525 cabs and was impressed with their weight but not with the sound. The entire box rattled and it was brand new - after a month or two on the road I felt they would have sounded even worse. I feared the mains lead would fall out the back of the amp.

RCF admit that the 522 with its 12" driver can deliver better bass at a couple of hundred quid less? - I wouldn't mind a pair for the odd wedding disco or small PA job. Still, nothing will compare to the sound from a dedicated sub.

my guess is that if you've been using good quality stuff,if you go and buy too cheap you'll only be disappointed.
I use EAW speakers for my daughter who sings with backing tracks and she sang at a club recently using someone else's ev sx300's and mackie bins and the sound was nothing like the quality we get and to be honest I really wouldn't want to downgrade now ,although it would be nice to have something a bit lighter.
I know it's very appealing to save weight etc but I would say think hard about it first as you may well regret it in the future.

Yes, thats exactly my thoughts. I have moved up and im getting a better equipment. having a dedicated sub does sound good. but I seem to be carrying way to much equipment as well as heavey.

It seems to me that a 12" speaker is best for vocals but you're never gonna get that much bass.
so I guess ultimately its a trade off of getting 12's and using one or two subs or going for a 15's and losing
a bit of quality.
I'm getting a pair of EAW nt 29's in the next couple of weeks and I'm hoping they will give me a better sound with less
weight than my jfx290's and two amps but they are quite pricey.

I like the KV2 a lot, they sound very smooth. Don't know about the RCFs, haven't heard them.
Give a couple of distributors a call, they will probaby happily let you listen to the RCF and the KV2 side by side and let you decide by yourself. LMC audio are a distributor for KV2 and I think they do RCF as well - www.lmcaudio.co.uk. Give them a call and I'm sure they'll be happy to help you
