The back does not come off. How big is the access panel & will you be able to plug everything in OK?
I have a similar rack & the access is too small + the hinges on it are at the top so it falls on my head if I'm not careful

is this another opportunity to mention how delighted I am with my SKB gigrig? 
its an expensive investment, but well worthwhile in the long run. I have the extension box too. the only downside is that you need to buy the rear rack rails separately, but that gives you in total (with extension) 14u on top, 12u down the front, and 12u down the back. dont forget the unconditional lifetime guarantee these come with!

Studiospares have FINALLY woken up to the 21st century and got a decent website!!
Ref the rack, it's a shame no one seems to do a decent depth one that'll house a digital desk (14u deep - 01v96/ 3216/ ls9 etc). They'd sell loads I'm sure.
Before anyone says it, I know you can get one made but these are £300-£400

By gig in a box, do you mean your guitar/backline or tape machines effects? Or do you mean your foh or mon rack?
I'm sure you've checked, but the weight of a box like this when confronted by stairs or awkward load-ins can be very heavy.
I switched to individual skb boxes and wheel boards for this very reason.
Didn't wish to sound negative, but in some circumstances an all in one solution can be more hassle than helpfull.
Feel free to shoot me down in flames if you've already been through the design stage and this is exactly the way you want to go.

I have a ada 8000 and an Alesis 8 channel graphic EQ in mine all in a single box. 20 mic channels on the desk and 8 channel graphic all in a caze you could barely get a mix wizard in!

I have gone on to gator flightcases recently.
I used to own a 12u x 10u wooden flightcase with the 'flappy' rear door.
It could be removed, but only left you with little room for connecting speakers to the amp, and no room to store the cables if you left them plugged in.
I would advise a rack with removeable rear panels everytime.
