Hi All
I'm thinking of purchasing an active speaker setup for band hire, looking at a few ie HK Actor, DB technology Forty line and also Logic systems XP range.
Would really like to hear from members currently using any of these systems.
Many thanks

I've heard good things about all of those makes, have you tried reading reviews on the internet and in magazines e.g. Sound on Sound?

The band I'm in use a Forty Line system but as I'm aminly on stage I never get to hear how good it really sounds until last week when I hired it out to another band who play a similar style of music to us and have to say it is a sweet sounding system.

we have an Actor system at work, sound is fine my main bug-bear is the weight of the things, I know active cabs will weigh more than standard ones, but the HK does take 2 people to lift the tops onto stands, and if your going to stack the subs, een with 2 its hard.
the finish isnt the best, there are no corner protectors, so too mant corner knocks means they look tatty quickly

Not owning but have heard the xp's (with 18" sub) and the dB techs.
I must say the two favorite cabs I auditioned were the xp's and another set. (already mentioned lots of times on here!)
But, bang for buck I'd be inclined to go for the QLS 152's.
A recent topic
here should prove interesting.
Cheers,
John Denim.

I had a setup of Logic XP15's and one XP180 subs.
They sounded amazing when I first got them, they weigh nothing, even the sub is a one man carry when downstairs. the I used them for a duo using backing tracks, venues ranging from pubs to holiday camps and the speakers never failed in filling the room! They produce excellent clarity, while still providing a warm sound.
Now the only problem I had which ultimately led to me selling them was:
One of tops didnt sound right, it felt as though their was a gap in the sound, some were in the low mid area, right were most of the warmth of the vocal is, also the grills are very sensitive, the end up rattling which is annoying! this happended as when the roadies carried the speakers in the grill was resting on their bodies!
one of the tops just didnt sound right and would switch of on its own (some kind of protection) sent it back to logic, they said they replaced the driver or something, next gig, theirs no difference!! it kept going off, now I know their was something wrong and I wasnt just trying to be too loud coz firstly I was in a small venue and secondly their was nothing wrong with the other one!
Well anyway, they sounded great, especially the sub!! Just make sure you have access to some good support as its not just me thats had problems, another live band I know of had to send a top back, but lucky for them they sent a brand new one back in return (must be the fact they bought 2 subs instead of 1) lol

I use HK contour and love them, system is on wheels so very handy and a two a side sub and top can be rigged by one person.
You haven't given your location but I'm in Somerset if you want to come and hear them.

Thanks for all the info on the powered Logic kit, do you know if the issue was with the digital amp ?
How old were the speakers when you started to have this issue.

I think it was the amp, as when they returned the speakers, the problem switched speakers!
I only had them for around 8 month before the problems started happening.
as mentioned the subs are very good though, no problems their.
