I have an AKG WMS400 but seem unable to tune it to any of the de-regulated UHF freq's. THe AKG website & info says it only goes up to 863Mhz. Pretty useless in the uk for the licence exempt freq's starting at 863.1Mhz.

Has anyone had experience with this model & am I just being a bit thick?

I've never used this make and model of wireless mic but I had a look at the online manual and it does indeed specify an upper frequency of 863 MHz.

The only glimmer of hope I can see is that THIS DOCUMENT mentions changing the built in frequency presets for specific countries...and GB is one of the countries. It might be worth trying that to see if the spec is slightly inaccurate. However, if not, then frankly I'd return this to the supplier as unsuitable for legal use in this country (unless, of course, your willing to buy a licence!).

You're correct. This was one of the drawbacks of the WMS products. Technically they are suitable for use in the UK but you will always need a license. We have never sold these for that very reason. Your dealer should have been a bit more knowlegable as to what they were selling and given you this information at time of purchase. Take it back for a refund (claim it is not 'fit for purpose') then order a Shure or Sennheiser system - preferably from a specialist dealer who can advise correctly on the correct system and licensing options.
