I'm looking for a preferably UK based manufacturer / carpenter who can build (to drawings) special cabinets. Nothing intricate but to a very high standard in terms of durability and precision. There must be some companies who do this regularly and with very good workmanship.

I'm not quite clear whether you mean speaker cabinets or "technical furniture"?

If it's the latter, I can heartily recommend a company in Aylesbury called Lund Halsey. In terms of control desks, rack cabinets, etc etc. they can build almost anything and their quality is first rate. I've used them for almost all my tech furniture since discovering them about 15 years ago!

It's heavy duty rack type for touring use, but not flightcase style. Built like speaker cabinet in 18mm birch ply and durable exterior finish.

Might be worth speaking to 5-star cases. They do a ply rack system that is then designed to fit into a lift-off lid flightcase. This 'inner rack' can be purchased separately. Its normally finished in a hard wearing black paint coat. Might be the thing you are looking for...

Looks like the style of case (grey carpet covered) that SSE hire use for all there cases. SSE. Also could try Ultrasonics who may be more cost effective.

Hi there, for all my woodwork, I use a local carpenter, who is very very good, and very reasonable on price. Last project was a DJ Booth, with a built in rack for processing and monitor amps etc... Finish was amazing, and it's put up with a 22 stone DJ bouncing around in there for a while now!
