Can anyone help now I have some better info?
I need to buy two or three DMX chips for my futurelight MH660's. They are apparently PBM3962's.
Futuelight only want to sell new boards which are very costly, but only the chip needs replacing.
Many thanks,
Steve.

Hmmm... no luck with either Farnell or RS. A quick UK google.gif brings up just two results and a worldwide search less than a hundred.

It looks like it may be available, but you might have to order from overseas, possibly with a minimum quantity imposed sad.gif

You could try Robe UK, they used to distribute Futurelight when they were called Coe-Tech. I've had Futurelight parts off them in the past. 01604 741000.

The PBM3962 is not a DMX chip.

Hmm as Brian said, thought it was DMX line getting attached to something bad that made you think it was a DMX chip, which is an input device.Mebbe I remember wrong.

The part # you`ve given appears to be, from quick google, a micro stepping motor driver chip. This is an output device. First thought is sure its chip and not motor?

Yeah thanks...the fixture operates normally in stand alone mode etc, but not when DMX is connected.

Hi, OK so what is the fixture doing or not doing that makes you think you need to replace this chip? And do you have one chip that works OK?

I would say the best way to do this is to get another eprom copied from a working one if this is the fault with the unit, I have had many problems with the wiring looms in these units, but when testing it really dose seem like its and chip fault on the Bord!

Hope to hear from you soon,
gafferted

I know this is an old thread but just in case anyone is still looking for these - RS do them...

Different number but it's a pin for pin replacement.

One of my Futurelight MH660 was giving PAEr on start up and the pan motor was completely dead.
Swapped the Pan and Tilt driver chips (PBL3772) and the tilt still worked, so the output chip must be ok. Swapped pan/tilt motor cables and the pan motor worked fine. Bit of testing showed that the signals from opto and hall sensors on the pan side were fine, and that the 5v power was getting to d/a driver for the output chip (PBM3962). It was also getting pulses from the PIC that looked the same as the those on the tilt side so it seemed this chip had to be the problem. Bunged in one of these RS chips and it now works fine.
