Richard CSL
Just found this on ebay and wondered if this could be used as a replacement for ELC style lighting.? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5Watt-Cool-White-LED-Driver-circuit-30-Degree-LED-LENS-Reflector-/140897064780?pt=US_Light_Bulbs&hash=item20ce1e974c thoughts anyone? Brian
...a replacement for ELC style lighting...thoughts anyone? The ELC is a 250W lamp, that's a 2.5W LED. So for the same light output the LED and it's optics would have to be 100 times more efficient. It isn't.
adam2
Agree, good LEDs are a lot more efficient than filament lamps, but 100 times ?, no way !
Don Allen
When looking for a led replacement for an ELC lamp, consider where the ELC lamp is being used. If it is in some form of disco effect, scanner etc, a lot of the light output from the ELC does not make it through the apperture so you would want a condensor lens so all of the led output goes out through the aperture. These Cree led's may do the job, but it would be cheaper to buy new fixtures !
