Needing help!!

Show next week, School has a Jester 24/48 channel and a 24 channel Juggler desk, I need more channels on the Jester is there anyway I could connect the 24 channel juggler to the Jester to act as extra channels and when programming cue's it adds the Juggler channels to it?

If anyone can give me some light on this!

I think you can, but don't know how.
However, a quick call to Zero88 would give you a definitive answer, and if my previous calls to them have anything to go by will probably talk you though it too.

As far as I'm aware, you just plug the DMX out from the Juggler to the DMX-in on the Jester, and then it'll 'snapshot' all the channels coming from the Juggler - so if you program a cue onto the Jester, it'll also store all the incoming data from the Juggler into the cue.

But I'm not sure if you need to set it up (or config it) to do this, so +1 for giving Zero88 a ring just to check!

Yup, exactly what Max said. Any channels that aren't patched on the Jester will just be snapped to the value that you set them to on the Juggler when you recorded the scene.

An alternative which may or may not be of use is that if you can cope with grouping channels, then you can patch any number of DMX channels onto one fader, so for instance you could have dimmer channels 1, 3 and 7 all coming up on the desk's channel 1.

The gotcha in this may be that the juggler isn't soft patchable. As far as I can remember from ours channel 1 is dmx1 and you can't move the start address.

You'd have to set your jester to start at DMX13 or 25, depending on whether you are running the juggler in wide mode.

Hi,
You can find information on this on page 20 in the Manual (http://zero88.com/su...achment/244/242), but if the issue that you are out of chanels, due to the fact that lanterns are not on paired circuits, I.e. a Chilli Dimmer, where Chanel 1 is socket 1, you can patch more than 1 channel to each fader on the Jester (think the maximum is 10 per channel) so you could soft pair channels.

I'd do it on the desk, personally. Quite easy, go into Superuser, then find patching. For each DMX channel, press the flash button on the channel you want to control it. You can have any number of DMX channels on each fader, right up to the whole universe if you feel the urge.

As Pritch says, via the desk is easiest, although you may have the issue that you can patch the same channel to more than 1 fader, e.g. If you try to patch 12 and 16, you will initially have to clear DMX channel from 16, as described above, so you can add it to fader 12, so that it controls 12 and 16. If you did really need the extra channels from the extra desk, I would probably buy a Magic DMX dongle, only £10 from Chamsys and run it from a PC, but this is only because, I don't think that the channels captured by the Jester from the other desk are fade able, and just snap change, although I may be wrong.

Hi Craig,

Patching multiple addresses onto the channel faders sounds like your most suitable solution, as described above.

If you have any problems, give us a call whilst infront of the console and we can talk you through it.

Our general number is 01633 838 088 or call the technical support and service team directly on 01633 833 101

Hi john,

I'll give it a try and maybe give yourselves a call tomorrow when I'm sitting with the desk after rigging for a show tomorrow morning!

Hi Guys,

I've did what people said, Connect Juggler to Jester which is working, I'm Using LED and they have Masters and Macros, so I'm giving them a Channel Each but putting all the Masters on Ch 5 and all the Macros on ch 6 to save more channels!

Has anyone ever had a problem with the jester faders 2 of them are broken and ch 26, 27 & 28 is operating weirdly! Anything I can try to maybe resolve this?

Tah
