Hi ,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience/suggestions as to what to use for asset tags for lighting. We are about to audit all our lights and want to security mark them. It is finding a reasonably priced solution that will withstand the heat. Any suggestions? cheers! |

For tags , Avery heavy duty laser labels, they are pretty tough and will stand up to 80C so not for lamphouse mounting, even my phone can read barcodes nowadays, barcode generation is simple, makes PAT tracking easier.
Engraving, either mechanical or chemical, is only way of permanently marking stuff that gets hot. |

Firms like Seton can supply metalised asset labels. I've not used them (prices seem a little high?) but you'll get the idea...

The Seton labels are very good. Their permanent glue is very very permanent.

Try Le Mark.
Phone rather than use their internet shop, not the same thing, but they have modified their glue type in the past to withstand constant outdoor use for me at a very reasonable cost. Matt This post has been edited by matt_h: 28 Jul 2010, 7:33 PM |

RS do a good budget range on labels with bar codes and numbers. From memory they do consecutive or unique numbers. Won't stand lamps housing but on yokes they are good.

They don't stick to anything for long, certainly nothing that gets above room temperature. I'll second the Seton metal ones for sticking, but I really don't know of anything better than a paint pen for lanterns. -------------------- Andrew

We Use Seton DuraGuard... Very expensive, but once they are on, they are on. think my boss came up with a figure of about £1.80 per label, which im not sure if I believe..

Seen Avery lables used for rating plates and serials on low volume manufactured equipment.

Maybe they aren't as good as they once were... -------------------- David Buckley.
