Hi guys,
Please help.
I need to mic up a santoor for a live performance. What mics and mic techniques are recommended?
Many thanks.

I would have thought a pair of small diaphragm condensors set about a foot away should cover it well. Is it on a noisy stage where spill might be an issue?

I am also thinking the same thing. Thinking the Shure Beta 98A. Small, condenser and cardioid.

Santoor is to my eyes a Hammered Dulcimer, my solution would be two pencil condensors pointed over the top down to the middle of the instrument

There is a similar chinese instrument called Yang Qin, and some musicians here told me to point the microphones from the bottom up towards the instrument, where it has a few openings. But my own experiment shows that pickung up its sound from the top brings out more highs and generally sounds just more natural.
Maybe they just didn't want the mics in front of them, to be visible
