Recently spent an enjoyable morning racking up some new Sennheiser G3 receivers. One thing that I didn't notice at the time is that the G3 receivers use a slightly different power connector for the DC input. I am using some of my existing stock of aerial amps, which have power distribution built in, but on the old style connectors.

Old connectors into a new receiver do seem to work, but can shake loose really easily. What I'd ideally do is solder new connectors onto the outputs of my old aerial amps, but I'm struggling to track any down. Was wondering if anyone had come across this and has a source for suitable connectors?

I too have found this. I believe however that it is only the Ch38 ones. A colleague has some Ch69 G3's and they seem to have the same PSU as the G2's but my Ch38 ones are different. Most odd. Can't help with the plug size but would be very interested to know also.

The G3's can be powered via the bnc using the new ADA's

Useful to know, but I'm using stock of older ADAs. I assume that introducing the supply voltage to the BNC won't be a trivial DIY task.

You should sell off the old splitters and get the new ones. So much nicer having only one wall wart per splitter+four receivers (and not having the supply umbilicals from the splitter to the receivers). Note that you must use the PSU for the splitter - the ones that come with the receivers are not large enough.

I think your missing the point. The OP already has the kit to do this job. he doesn't need to sell off the old DAs at all just get the right connectors. what difference does the 8 small cables make powering the receivers when the back of the rack is on and all is connected?

As the old ASPs are still functioning and are not on the JFMG rate card many hire companies will be doing just this as I will be in due course.

Correct me if I'm wrong but do the old ADA's do ch38? And I'd suggest getting the new ADA's as has been said it's messy enough with the bnc's never mind the fiddly dc cables.

Our existing paddle aerials and ADAs all work with Channel 38.

I recently found that there's a new range of DC connectors which are designed for different voltages - the idea being you can only plug in a PSU of the right voltage. It could be one of these - can you post a pic?

They're out on a job just now but I will try to do so when they return. I seem to remember that the connector has some yellow to it, if that is any help. The central pin is smaller than the G2 packs, but the outer diameter of the socket is the same, hence why it is possible to get them working but with a somewhat shaky connection.

Managed to get a photo of the connector this evening.

Also discovered that the "wall warts" are too wide to fit in adjacent sockets on some of my 6-way adaptors, increasing the annoyance factor.

Do you use the cable retensioin thingy on the back of the receiver (if there is one)? I would have thought that would have held the older connector in place.

I know what a WART is but why is it called as such. PSU alawauys works for me and normal people know what you are refering to!
