Sound & Audio Visual Technician

We are a new department within the organisation and we are looking for a Sound & Audio Visual Technician to join us in our early days, to be an integral part of forming our new Technical Department.

 

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Day to day sound and audio visual duties and support for events/performances inside the two theatres, exhibition spaces and across the organisation.
  • Preparation of sound and audio visual equipment as well as other technical equipment in readiness for shows and load ins.
  • De-prepping kit, ensuring that it is stored correctly and safely, reporting any damage or faults to the Technical Director.
  • Pre-planning of the sound and audio visual requirements and creating the necessary paperwork.
  • When required, liaising with the incoming Designers and Technicians to ensure all pre-production requirements are catered for.
  • Acting as a member of the Technical Department, you would be expected to co-ordinate with the other technical crew, liaise with external production staff and in-house team members to ensure that information is accurate and standards are consistently met and exceeded.
  • You will be required to mix the various set-ups and where possible control any audio visual equipment during rehearsals and performances.
  • Deliver all aspects of the Cultural Centre's sound and audio visual services to the highest standard.

Furthermore, the Sound & Audio Visual Technician will undertake the following duties during times when there are no active events or performances:

  • Checking stock levels of technical consumables and working with the Technical Director to place orders when necessary.
  • First line maintenance of sound and audio visual equipment.
  • Working on maintenance tasks or other technical projects during maintenance periods.
  • Proactively ensuring that all technical areas are kept safe, clean and tidy.
  • Establishing house standards and methods for rigging, working at height and moving equipment around.
  • To attend departmental meetings, staff meetings and other meetings as required.

We are looking for a person with:

  • Excellent knowledge and experience of working in theatrical and live mixing environments.
  • Experience of rigging speakers and setting up microphones and installing backline equipment.
  • A good knowledge of mixing consoles, specifically the DiGiCo SD9.
  • Physical fitness which is enough to undertake the duties, including manual handling.
  • Flexible and capable of prioritising and working under pressure.
  • Ability to work on tasks alone or as a team player with excellent inter-personal skills.
  • Willing to work within a roster and able to undertake evening, occasional overnight and weekend working as required.
  • Good IT skills, numerate and literate.
  • Demonstration of experience working within the entertainment industry.

The role will require flexibility of working hours to embrace the responsibilities within the Technical Department and the services that it provides. As the department grows and evolves, the job description and role is likely to evolve as well, flexibility and the ability to adapt the role is an important factor.

 

Salary Details: £650-900 per week (Paid in Kuwaiti Dinars)
