Emmett45
Hello all, I have a brand new version of SCS11 on a brand new laptop. On show files audio cues will play fine (MP3 and MP4a formats) but if I go back and revist a cue the file won't play and the error message 'sample buffer not found' appears. I have to come out of the program and go back into it for the cue to work. It's not the same files freezing all the time and sometimes the entire show will play fine. Thoughts please. Ynot
not 100% sure but I believe we've had problems in the past with those pesky m4a file types (damn, you, Apple and your predilection for compressing the cr@p out of everything!).I'd suggest that as a starter you convert anything m4a into a more manageable MP3 at least (though it won't improve the quality of course) and see how you get on there. Emmett45
Hi, Thanks for the reply. It's MP3 files that are falling over too. It seems that, for whatever reason, SCS just temporarily stops 'seeing' the audio file. not 100% sure but I believe we've had problems in the past with those pesky m4a file types (damn, you, Apple and your predilection for compressing the cr@p out of everything!).I'd suggest that as a starter you convert anything m4a into a more manageable MP3 at least (though it won't improve the quality of course) and see how you get on there. Brian
Just a suggestion but how about telling your virus scanner to never scan your media files.
Malcolm Gordon
I suggest you join the SCS Forum or email support mike@showcuesystems.com . m4a files used to require one or other of two additional dll files, bass_aac.dll or bass_alac.dll, which for licensing reasons Mike could not include in the program package but would direct one to the source. This is no longer the case. Older iTunes m4p files with DRM protection are two-part, if I remember correctly, and SCS cannot play them. If mp3 files are misbehaving as well, SCS may be corrupt. Rather like power switching, my default first action with random behaviour is to do an over-the-top re-installation of SCS. Settings should be unaffected. Ynot
Another issue we found was when we had SCS try to play files that were on a separate hard disk to the main OS C drive - took a while to tie that one down, but essentially if SCS has to call up that drive from a 'standstill' there was definite lag, and sometimes errors during playback. May not be relevant to your problem here, but worth knowing.
pumphouse
That sounds like a memory management issue to me. Definitely one for SCS support. I have always found them to be very good.
Bobbsy
+1 for taking this to the SCS Forum. Mike Daniell (who writes the software and runs the company) is always very helpful.
Mike Daniell
Email me at support@showcuesystems.com if you are still having problems. A diagnostic file will also be useful. You can create this file by selecting 'Create Diagnostic File' from the drop-down menu displayed when you click the Help button in the main window. The file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Diagnostics" under "Documents" or "My Documents".
Emmett45
Hi, Removing the anti-virus software has (touch wood) cured the problem. SCS now behaving perfectly! Just a suggestion but how about telling your virus scanner to never scan your media files.
