  1. There is a huge difference between anaphalaxis and an allergic reaction. Many get labelled the same. My betting is they haven't seen one proper one this month.
  2. We don't use anything apart from cling film and tap water now. Gel just distracts people from standing at the sink / shower for 20 mins. Nothing as good as running tepid water to cool that burn, and sheets of cling film to keep the skin moist and provide a protective layer.
  3. Stop scaremongering. If someone is that allergic to a substance, they will know about it, be aware of it, and have counter measures in place. Do you know how rare it is for an ambulance to go to an actual anaphalaxis ?. Most of the time we turn up because someone is 'allergic' to an item, has an epipen, and panics like hell, resulting in someone giving the pen ........ causing them to have to go in to be observed for at least 4 hours. Its akin to the hundreds of calls we go to about pain ...... have you taken any pain relief, no, why not.
  4. To chime in here..... As a former technician, now working for the 999 ambulance service, you've got to ask about the sensibility of people saying no all the time to basic first aid or medical problems. If someone asks you if you have paracetamol, and you do, then offering them some is not some sort of gate to hell. Be sensible with that you offer, IE no aspirin for pain where someone is on blood thinners, encourage them to read the leaflet if needed, but we need to step away from the doom based thought that you will be sued every time. It simply doesn't happen. You are more likely these days to receive a bad venue review on trip advisor or similar if you DON'T provide small items like pain relief, ice packs etc. I went to a very large holiday resort this week for a wasp sting ........ oh no, we cant possibly have piriton in our bags, that would be a drug. yes, a very safe, very effective drug, that anyone can buy over the counter. Just follow the instructions on the bottle and voila, your client will be happier. Instead, their client was very upset that the resort safety team called an ambulance, wasted their time, for something so minor. People need to take charge of their own wellbeing again. You aren't selling them heroin, you are offering them a free pain relief tablet.
  5. In a trauma situation we are specifically taught not to bother looking for alert bracelets. In the general ambulance world, we also are taught that alert bracelets are of limited use / ignore them initially. You treat what you see, what can be reversed etc. If you are unco, no bracelet will be looked at, we follow the standard DRABCDE pattern. Does not matter if you are diabetic and wearing a bracelet, I am going to do a BM on you and check your sugar levels anyway - people have been caught out before seeing bracelets and then focussing on that as the cause. And those bracelets which require some sort of device or phone to see the contents ........ not worth it. If you are not well enough to tell me whats wrong with you, I am not wasting time whipping out my phone, looking at a qr code, and deciphering some obscure alert, all the time you are deteriorating. You know what you need ? - your name somewhere and your DOB. That is all I need to do a summary care record print from the nhs system, with all your details, allergies etc on. Some people think they need to let us know all sorts. Pre hospitally, nope. If you cant tell us yourself, you have bigger issues than your past history. In hospital ? - nope, there's the nhs system for that.
  6. As someone who used to be in the event industry, and who took the jump into full time 999 nhs ambulance work......... Don't be afraid of touniquets. If someone is peeing blood, and pressure wont stop it enough, pop one on. Better to be alive and lose an arm, than having bled out before arrival. Don't rely on the 999 services to be there quickly. If its a terrorism based attack, or might be one, we are all told to hold off until scene is declared safe by police. See ariana concert to see the timings ..... up to an hour plus. Know where your kits are, know whats in them, and know how to use them. Keep an eye on people opening and using kit so its stocked when you need it.
  7. Well, that wasn't spam at all was it …… linking to your own shop Moderation: TSS are new members and unused to our expectations. The moderators have been in touch with a link to our policy on commercial posts.
  8. Lots of people use the brother printers that use the ez tape. Originals are expensive, however the no name carts on ebay are stupid cheap in comparison. Theres lots of different types you can get, including heatshrink, and super sticky etc. Lots of colours. Theres also a desktop version you can connect to a laptop, if you want to do larger or more specialist versions
  9. Ebay. Seriously. Theres a few companies on there that produce labels with your logo and decent adhesive, and blow the prices of leshark (sorry, lemark) out of the water. I don't know how they still get to charge the massively inflated prices they do.
  10. Strange question, are you directly employed by said venue ? Or freelance, or contracted by someone else to look after it. To throw mud here...….. contracted and freelance would require an SIA CCTV licence to review footage. In house or directly employed staff don't.
  11. Was going to say, most cameras operate only on movement, saves lots of hard drive space. Check the settings ……….
  12. The issue with 'putting someone in touch' is that professionals, will charge for their advice / consultancy. If you put detail on here, you might get some free advice from experts - and those who don't really have a clue will immediately be corrected by those who do if its on here....
