BigYinUK
Hi all As having a decent hazer at all our shows has now become critically important, we're considering buying one to tour with. I've had mixed results with hazers so just wondered what your thoughts were. I had a Le Maitre a while back but it didn't work more times than it did. The Look Solutions Unique used to be well thought of although its a bit pricey. Must be DMX controllable. Here's what we're trying to create - BTW The torches are meant to look like torches as we're "searching" for Kate in the fog! Otherwise the haze is used just to catch the beams. It occurred to me that we might need the thicker smoke of a fogger rather than a hazer? Any suggestions?
Young Johnstone
Which Le Maitre hazer did you have? I'm touring with an MVS at the moment, and its bloody awesome. I've been using Unique 1's and 2's for years, and always considered them to be the best, but now I've had my hands on an MVS for the last two months on the road my mind has been changed. Its been really reliable and efficient with a fine haze.I've had plenty of Martin / Jem hazers too, but I don't think they're quite good enough. I'm not bringing into account oil crackers though, which I'd rather have, but for water based the MVS is my first choice now.
peza2010
We've got a couple of MVS's in our stock. great standalone, terrible on DMX!

Young Johnstone
How's it terrible on DMX? I've no issues at all.
AndrewGrant
Reel EFX DF50 - by far one of the best hazers available. Older units are not DMX compatible, a relay rack will fix that though. The new ones are DMX controlled. My second choice would be an MDG Atmosphere. This does require either CO2 or N2 gas though.
BigYinUK
After AndrewGrant's post, perhaps I should say max budget £600 :) Well look at this :) http://www.thomann.de/gb/look_unique.htm?sid=01ad35701ca393de445fcb07dfef370b
sparkyweb
Neutron star although it uses similar components to the MVS is far inferior to the MVS. I would go for one as preference over anything else
timperrett
I wrote this post: http://bit.ly/hazertips on Blue-Room a while back. Strictly it is about aiming hazers, but covers (with links) some hazer options I have found to work nicely.
Adam L F
I'm a huge fan of the Haze Base range, click here for the link to the product range. We've used the Base Hazer Pro on many gigs, very happy with their output and can fill a big top tent pretty quickly, the base touring package is also very good. http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif

top-cat
I have 2 of the Haze Base machines Adam and I completely agree... although for obvious reasons a Unique 2 will do much the same thing since it is basically the same hazer. My stage is approx 1800 cubic metres and running 2 of the Base Hazer Pros, at about 25%, keeps the stage really well haze'd. And remember we are in a desert so there are several big air con units on stage drawing it out. When the air con is turned off, 25% gives you a pretty heavy (but not smokey) haze all over stage. Genuinely very impressed and I do like the rack case design.
norty303
Another thumbs up for the Look Unique2/Smoke Factory Tour Hazer 2/HazeBase Base Hazer units. As has been said, all ultimately the same units, but different configs and flightcase options. I'm a THII owner personally and love it. If you are touring it, probably consider the Tour Hazer or Base Hazer over the Look. Not sure you'll do better for the price. Also, think about whether you want an oil based hazer or water based 'fazer' (as the units above are). I prefer the 'relative' cleanliness of the water based units personally. timsabre
Trying to use an MVS today, nice haze quality but as hinted above getting it to work on DMX seems to require black magic. After various combinations of multiple button presses as instructed by the unclear manual, it got into a mode where it was showing the desk control value on the display but producing max haze even though it was set at zero. mjriley
Another shout for the hazebase products, excellent quality with great reliability and 100% duty cycle. Never had a problem and for a hazer that's saying something.
