BiddenhamDrama
I am looking for a costume supplier that has a realistic 1920s police officer outfit for a school production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Can anyone suggest a supplier? Alternatively, can you suggest another way to create the costume (which parts are key, which could be modified etc.)? WiLL
I've always heard good thiings about this company: Flame TorbayHowever, it has to be said that his workload is probably pretty high this year what with all the WW1 stuff.
alistermorton
My theatre has a pretty extensive wardrobe and hires items out. Could be worth contacting them? Miller Centre Theatre Warbrobe
Jivemaster
This year lots of groups are doing something with a WW1 look feel or sound. So if you will want anything from that era then book it as soon as you find it.
w/robe
If you actually want realistic then Torbay or Angels, but that depends on your definition of realistic. If you want something that will look OK to most people then try any costume hire company that hires out Pirates of Penzance as a set. There is probably a company near you or try the Costume Workshop on the Isle of Wight.
Props Mary
This may be too late for you now but it really depends on your budget whether you hire or make something 'that will do' from an audience point of view, bearing in mind material is not cheap and the closest material vendor near to you. Hire might seem more expensive but then so is making something in time and money. Several hire places will post to save you a journey, once you have provided measurements. You will have found plenty of pictures on the internet I'm sure for a competent seamstress to make a tunic to go over black school trousers (take the trousers with you to shop to match the black). The tunic does need to be made from a reasonable weight material (e.g a synthetic version of light wool). The same material that stage blacks are made out of would do, and then comes in decent widths.Does your PC need a helmet? Some hire places will hire just a helmet to complete your authentic look. Most are online so ring round to get prices.
