How would that be Newcastle Upon Tyne, or Newcastle Upon Lyme by any change.

Sorry, that would be the Tyne variety.

The event was at the start of this week, the company I was working for normally use Pinnacle (or Gallowglass) crew who did not have anyone locally and were quoting a ridiculous rate for one local for the day (although to be fair they did bring it down to a fair price in the end).

The event organiser had no luck in finding an alternative local crew company (I'm not convinced they looked particularly hard - I would of rang the local Arena and asked who they used) so I was just curious to see what the options were for the next time we're working up that way.
Informed? Perhaps. Opinionated? Certainly.

I cannot believe that there was a problem finding crew in the Newcastle UPON TYNE area.

With 4 main theatres in the city and an Arena, The Sage In Gateshead (just Across the river) several more venues where theatre music dance and many other artistic/corporate performances/events take place the city and its surrounding area have a whealth of professional crew.

I am a Production/Stage Manager who works in the North East and the next time your in the area looking for crew let me know.

Oh and as for companies such as Gallowglass.. I would think one of the reasons they dont have anyone local is because they do not take on anyone local.. I have applied to this and other companies of their type and have had no response!! (God I sound bitter ...but Im not hahaha)

Actually, finding good crew in Newcastle is a challenge. Yes, there are plenty of venues, but guess what? People are working at those venues and don't have time for much else...

There are a selection of crewing companies in the North East, there are two main ones in my mind. There is one very large company that supplies you with people who can move a box from here to there. The other company is more of a rock and roll crew, who actually have knowledge of working with different disciplines lx, noise etc. I have contact details for both so drop me a line and we can chat.
