Scenehouse Make will introduce students to a range of prop making materials and techniques that are standard throughout the theatre industry. Expert tutors who are themselves professional props makers will provide guest lectures and demonstrations, whilst core Scenehouse staff will support students through their own personal projects. Note that this course, which previously lasted a week has been extended to a fortnight.

 

The course will include:


  •  
  • Moulding and casting, techniques and materials
  • Life casting
  • Sculpting tools and materials
  • Polystyrene carving
  • working with found objects and adapted components
  • Simple mechanisms
  • Prop level carpentry
  • adhesives, foams, rubbers, paints and other useful materials
  • A guide to the props-makers tool box
  • Scenic carpentry
  • COSHH

 

Participants will gain hands on experience with various materials culminating in a group built project.

 

The course can be studied as part of the full eight week Scenehouse Programme which runs from June 29th till August 7th.
