Audio for firefighting...

Don't think we're close enough to April 1st for this to not be serious, so let's see what we think...

The use of bass frequencies to extinguish flames...

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/this-new-soundbased-fire-extinguisher-puts-out-flames-by-dropping-the-bass-10131841.html

If it IS a valid option it could have some serious future implications for tackling fires - not quite sure on precisely how in a practical sense in larger disasters, but the mind does start to boggle when I think on it.

On a lighter side, theatres could perhaps therefore justify in the investment of cash into an array of subs to dot around the place citing "Well, it's elf 'n' safety, innit...?"

:D

Demonstrated in the video below, the cylindrical device, smaller than many more traditional fire extinguishers, is held about a foot away from flames and immediately snuffs them out.

Clearly the advanced use of this audio technology in the future would need to be of a developed and practical fashioning... :)

After all, look at how the world of the firearm has come on since the first peashooter fired an air-propelled, well, pea through a long tube...

mythbusters did it a few years ago, http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/mythbusters/mythbusters-database/extinguish-fires-with-human-voice/. I cant find a video at the moment, but they had quite a stack trying to do it, less directional.

As a side note re firefighting, There is a firehose in testing that cuts brick

now that looks like fun.
