Good Morning all

Polestar Productions are the UK distributors of The Dynamic Projections Institutes Mirror Head System. A task I am on with at the moment is to create a resource for clients of personality files for major Lighting Consoles as the system can be driven via Artnet.

We have been successful so far with

MPC

Chamsys

Zero88

We are awaiting a response from High end for the HOG series

But have hit a brick wall with

MA2

M Dot

Avolites

Because of their application process for getting personalities written. We know the system has been used on these systems in Europe but Dynamic has been unsuccessful in getting copies!

So I am looking for people who would be prepared to write personalities for us here in the UK for these and possibly the ETC Theatre ranges. we have the DMX chart which is not complex although is 15 channel, most being reserved for features currently in the pipeline

We are more than happy to pay for help You can contact me via the DM system here or via tony at polestar-productions dot uk. Thanks in advance for any help

Hello,

I am currently responsible for writing personalities for the Avolites library. I'm sorry to hear you have been having with the application process and that you feel you have hit a brick wall. I'm not sure why this might be but the correct process is to submit a request via the form here. There is no charge for this service. If the manufacturer is not currently listed please select 'Other' which will reveal a field where you can enter the name. If you do not own a console just select 'Arena (.d4)' from the Desk Type options and leave the serial number blank. When submitting the request please attach the charts in either .pdf or .zip format max size 3MB (alternatively you can attach information in reply to the receipt email). If you have already done this please let me know the reference number that you received in the associated email receipt and I will investigate.

Thanks for the response much appreciated, we had started with the form but as it is understandably aimed at console owners we could not provide the info that appeared to be needed! Thanks for the additional directions and we will try again so you should see it in due course.

Received. All looks fine.

This sounds like something that you ought to be talking to Carallon about - they provide the fixture profile database information to several console manufacturers.

Dynamic have spoken to them but the procedures and likely time scale means that it has to be viewed as a longer term approach

hence the current project! Which is driven by the fact that we will be exhibiting the system at PLASA.

All being well the Avo one will be up tomorrow. You should receive an email confirming this.

It's not a complicated fixture, albeit with somewhat non-standard attributes. I would have thought most people could produce this quickly if it's urgent. With very few exceptions I can normally turn around even the most complicated fixtures within an hour or so (and send directly to customers to use immediately if necessary) and in the library installers within 24hr hrs (due to installer build and upload process). I realise there may be various reasons why some might not have the ability to do this but I find it hard to understand why it couldn't be produced in time for Plasa (even allowing for pre-programming time etc.)

It is not actually about whether people can or can't do it themselves it is about offering a service to customers new to the product and further demonstrating the fact that the system can be used with lighting consoles out of the box! A quick explanation this is not some Chinese mash up it is a system developed in Austria it has been available in Europe for three years but just no visibility/representation in this country have a look at ours and Dynamic Projection institutes sites for a better understanding. Thanks for your help it means we can get the downloads page ready pre Plasa.

I think Nic meant console manufacturers not end users.

On second read I agree he may have done! We are at their mercy as we do not own all the consoles we need personalities for and we are just making sure we have ticked all the boxes in good time for our product to be shown at Plasa. I am grateful for all help Dot2, Hog and Etc to gohttp://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

Apologies. I can see now how that might have read as end users but I did mean console manufacturers.

No problem we are in a bit of a strange position with an out of the ordinary! Product. Understandably console manufacturers are focused on owners of their equipment so when we turn up it sort of doesn't fit the expected! hence the unorthodox approach on our part!

I can't speak for other manufacturer's and I can see why you might say that but if that was the case they wouldn't sell many consoles - it would be like back when you had to have dedicated controllers for specific moving lights. I would suggest it is more important to be able to support as many fixtures as possible. And the days of a few fixture manufacturer's are long gone. Now there are hundreds, many with a large portfolio. And, similarly, there isn't really such a thing as 'ordinary' any longer. For sure there are certain patterns but I see all sorts of definitions.

[Fully agree with that I was more thinking along the lines of person buys a console from their manufacturer of choice and needs a slightly off the wall fixture, Rather than us coming along not buying a console and wanting an off the wall fixturehttp://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif (We do have a console !)
