paulears
I'm not sure we've ever talked about Ireland? I expect it's vaguely similar, but our usual sources aren't valid for you. Your local authority would be the place to start, I think.
kerry davies
As Paul says, we wouldn't be the experts but this will start you off. That is if you do mean working with children and young people.
Ynot
Indeed, start with the local authority, and don't just read stuff - actually TALK to them if you have any concerns. We have a pretty good relationship with our County Council CPS lot, so not all of them are dragons!
paulears
It's going to be reformed here too, based on the current discussions, and made easier, simpler and more flexible. Ireland may well be doing the same thing. No more 10pm curfews, 11pm out of the building seems much better - if it happens.
stebee
Thanks to all so far. I have been in touch with our Govt depts for Children and the Department of Jobs and Enterprise.Irish Equity have not responded to my queries. We have an UNOFFICIAL policy of following closely what the UK policies are, however, that is not to say that the Law will be the same. But, best practice is best practice. Ste.
paulears
I'm not sure what UK Equity would tell you? They've never been much use on licensing questions. In general, because of the way the local authorities implement the almost common system, shows that tour and use kids really have to deal with each tour venue, but luckily, most have somebody in-house who has contacts with the local office, which speeds things up. Things like chaperone licensing - let alone the actual kids themselves.
Marineboy63
I have always followed the very useful advice I once read on the side of a box of matches...... Keep away from children. Works for me. :)
stebee
Thanks all. Our Dept of Jobs and Enterprise have gotten back to me and given me all the relevant Info.License needed for the ability to employ, Chaperone needed for the youth, and "Best practice" but not a legal requirement for other people to be Vetted by the police. I'll post the pertinent info as soon as I get a chance. Ste.
