  1. Thanks for sharing, good read
  2. I used to work in a fairly large holiday resort. We used to 'fog' accommodation when someone had been unwell during their stay, usually with symptoms of Norovirus or similar. As mentioned before, they are fairly well used on cruise ships and have been for quite some time. I never knew too much about them, other than we stuck a cap over the smoke detector and they filled the room. We let it settle for 24 hours and came back to find a fine layer over every surface, which could then be cleaned off and surfaces buffed and polished back to normal. It was a lot of work for just a few rooms, and had quite a distinctive clinical smell. I have no idea how effective this would be in such a large indoor area, I guess it would take some doing to guarantee every surface was covered, and I can't imagine very cheap either....
  3. Word on the street is that he is closing before he had no option but to close, I notice the auction is described as 'on behalf of the director'. Very sad news.
  4. We use iZettle too for our bar and also our box office. We have a card device and iPad at each point. x1 iPad was new and x1 was second hand. I have quite a few issues with reliability but that's due to our dodgy BT wifi router and its location when our bar fills up with people the signal becomes pretty rubbish. I'm hoping that a new access point at the bar will be the solution to this. I did lots of research with this before I purchased them and found iZettle to be the best of the bunch, in terms of price and features and ongoing support, its also very popular so likely to be supported for time to come. I looked at Clover too but in reality, for a low-cost professional solution iZettle came up trumps. Interestingly, recently our bank asked us who we process card payments with and wanted to know if they could offer anything, after letting them know the fee % they could not beat it, but it would be interesting to see what they could offer in terms of mobile devices. If I could have found a 3G/4G device cheap enough I would have purchased one, so will follow this thread.
  5. I used QLab for almost this exact purpose at a funeral service two weeks ago. Its all possible with some time spent programming. I'm not sure it would work playing from a DVD, I have never tried that, but I suspect that almost certainly it would need the file to be stored locally on your device or media drive. Andrew
  6. A few weeks ago we installed a TV in our foyer for the purpose of advertising. It works well. Artwork is supplied as .JPG and put onto a memory stick. We purchased a standalone device for under 20 pounds which inputs onto the TV HDMI input. As the TV likes to use HDMI as its default, when the TV is turned on the slideshow running from the USB starts instantly. Seems easy so far. We have not considered asking if anybody wants to advertise on it, our footfall is likely nowhere near enough. I would like to see us use a wall mounted digital outdoor display (we dont have many windows) too, but these are serious money. I would love to know what sort of product this is, does anyone have a link to this ?
  7. Hi Peter, At Scenic we have two cars, there is a 'front' body of the Cortina, and we also have the west end version which is basically an electric golf buggy with an open top fibreglass cortinon the top. They both work really well depending on your space. When we did the production ourselves, we used the half Cortina on the stage and used the large prop for some publicity. We also very very luckily had a local owner of a Cortina Mark II who loved coming down and showing off the car at the theatre every night. Cortina
  8. There was a production called 'Eurobeat' which was a musical based on the Eurovision song contest. At the end of the show the audience voted for their favourite act. I'm pretty sure they used to use voting buttons, but now use an app or website. I think they are currently touring elsewhere in the world so might we worth investigating.
