sandall
Haven't seen the movie (& it's Wiki entry doesn't menion bees), so no idea of how many of the little b...s you are thinking of, but my first thought is one or more movers with "bee" gobos & an appropriate sound track. You will need custom gobos, so do a few drawings of groups of bees & talk to Goboland or Goboworld, etc. Ok, they won't show up as black & yellow, but if your gobos only project the yellow bits, & you use a deep gold or orange filter (depending on what you're projecting against), you might just get away with it. The important bit is the sound track - if that's realistic enough, & the actors can act, you might not even need the visuals.

nikkicallaghan
Have you thought of video projection with as already mentioned a good soundtrack to back it up
Dave m
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fG3giIafUqkMovie clip You'd need to make it far bigger to be seen on stage.Might be better to re imagine the whole scene in a different way.Only the front row, if that, would see anything

nikkicallaghan
Just watched the clip and doing something that was cg and close up on film will be very tricky. As others have said maybe just getting the sound right and acting it would work out best
